The New York Monologues

The New York Monologues

Theatre, Comedy

Presented by The Attic Studio

"September 12th was a rough day in New York, half the Starbucks were closed."

It's high scholl history in 2051 and Franklin hasn't done his report on Patriot Day (formerly September 11th, which wasn't a very creative name). Instead he shares his grandfather's stories in a series of fast paced monologues from a Tour Guide, Deli Owner, Police Officer, Soccer Coach, Minister and more dealing with the everyday annoyances of a post 9-11 New York City.

The New York Monologues is a humorous, poignant and unapologetic reflection of how a nation's most talked about tragedy affected the world's most neurotic, cynical and irreverant city.

This is Fitzgerald & Stapleton with Lighting Designer Barry Madden's latest major choreography, written in language of extreme concision, creates a new language to convey the creation of being.  It describes the will of a creative force, defying all impossibility, which makes life so that humanity can exist and suffer.  A cosmic work that points to the future of human destiny.

This contemporary dance company's mission is to redefine representation of the dancing body through frequent performance.  In support of this, they have evolved a choreographic process which foregrounds the performer's virtuosic attempts to remain alive to the experience of performance itself.
