Check out Smock Alley Theatre’s new website!!
Building on the rich heritage of the past, Smock Alley Theatre will once again be at the theatrical heart of Dublin.
Steps forward...
Smock Alley Theatre building in Temple Bar is one of the most important sites in European theatre history. For more than a century, Smock Alley Theatre put Irish theatre on the European map.
The Gaiety School of Acting is currently managing a 90 seat black box space on this site. However, we are working alongside Temple Bar Cultural Trust and the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism to reinstate Smock Alley Theatre to its former glory. It is proposed that this development will include a 220 seat theatre, a 110 seat studio space and a state of the art rehearsal banquet hall.
This refurbished theatre and rehearsal facilities will respect and value tradition while at the same time encourage, enable and inspire the very best work to be created and presented to a wide range of audiences into the future. If you would like to learn more about how you could support this development, please visit our website.
