Why Drama?
We believe that drama offers young people a vital opportunity to express themselves. We know that by using drama as a way of approaching work, the results can be remarkable.
The Gaiety School of Acting offers courses for young children and adults through our Saturday classes and also through our outreach workshops in schools and organisations.
The benefits of drama for children have been widely acknowledged and include among them:
- Development of imagination and aesthetic awareness
- Independent and critical thinking
- Social growth and the ability to work with others
- Improved communication skills
- Healthy release of emotion
- Knowledge of self
- Fun and recreation
- An introduction to the theatre
Creative drama offers benefits for parents too:
- Quality time spent with four young child in creative moments.
- Valuable insights into the observations, impressions, interests, fears and humour that your child reveals.
- Fun! You can both enjoy dramatic play for the pure fun of it.
Our Courses
We have designed specific workshops that explore aspects of curriculum, performance skills, or social issues such as racism, bullying and substance abuse.
If you are interested in organising similar workshops for a group of children in your area OR you would like your school to invite one of our drama facilitators to deliver a workshop for your child's class, contact John Delaney on 01 6799277.
