2009 The Field - Leamy's Story
Theatre
Presented by The Gaiety School of Acting Youth Theatre Company
The Gaiety School of Acting Youth Theatre Company, a group of talented young students aged between 16 and 19, present an energetic piece of theatre which they have devised using the original text of J.B. Keane's The Field as a starting point.
Centred around a group of young people who hang out in The Field, we see from the events that ensue how they, their relationships with each other and their community are affected and how this classic tale of land, greed and violence can take on a new dimension. This is a poignant tale of growing up and the painful realisation that everything you know and take for granted can be shattered by one event.

2011 A Midsummer Nights Dream (Youth Theatre Company, Cork)
A Midsummer Nights Dream
Our Youth Theatre Company will show their understanding of A Midsummer Nights Dream. These 13-18 year old students have very different ideas of what love is, from ‘feeling safe’ to ‘it’s not convenient’. It is not surprising that their discussion is held on facebook (befriend Helena Hogan, Hermia Hegarty, Lysander Lyons or Demetrius Dempsey to join in), and cyber reality is also playing a part in their performance.
Venue: Firkin Crane, Shandon, Co Cork
17th June – 19th June 2011 – 8pm nightly
