Advanced Performance Year In Acting

The Advanced Performance course is aimed at those students who are committed to further enhancing their skills as a performer. The course maintains a strong emphasis on performance and the presentation of work while focusing on the individual students’ strengths and weaknesses.

In term one the focus will be on physical characterisation, preparing non-theatrical text, theatre research into different styles and genres. Term two is the preparation of a piece of theatre for showcase. Students gain an understanding of taking a theatre piece from the page to the stage. Term three will focus on ways of playing for particular playwrights and plays. A variety of techniques and methods will be used.

The main emphasis is on the preparation of work which students will showcase at the end of each term. In term one they will prepare duologues which will be shown to other students. Term two is the preparation of a piece of theatre for public showcase. In term three students prepare scenes for their final public showcase to which agents and directors are invited.
