The Stage Combat Workshop
Stage Combat Actor Training
These classes provide an opportunity for everyone to learn stage combat, whether they attend acting school or not. There are classes and workshops that cater for all levels of skill. These are open to everyone - professional and amateur actors, theatre technicians, academics, and those who are simply interested.
The Stage Combat Workshop
The course will cover important safety skills for use in stage combat, as well as rapier and dagger fight techniques and unarmed combat for stage and screen. For each system, the emphasis is on the theatrical presentation of the techniques. As the course progresses, more advanced techniques will be introduced and preperation for the optional fight proficiency test will begin. This is a practical course, with students first observing and then participating in the techniques and excercises, while being closely watched by a qualified instructor. Throughout the course, students will gradually move on to more performance based work, applying action to text.
On successful completion of this course, you may opt to take the Irish Dramatic Combat Academy (IDCA) fight proficiency test. Successful students will be awarded with the IDCA Basic Actor Combatant Certificate.
