Young Gaiety (4-16yrs)
The Young Gaiety Saturday School is the most comprehensive acting course available to young actors in Ireland. The year long programme consists of three 10 week terms. The structure of the course is both flexible and comprehensive, allowing students to participate in anything from a 10 week course to a three year cycle.
Within each age group, you can choose between the Drama Workshop and the Performance Workshop. In Temple Bar we also offer a third option, The Young Performers Company.
Drama Workshop (DW)
Have fun, meet new friends, gain confidence and expand your imagination in the Drama Workshop. Aimed at students who are just beginning to study drama, this lively, interactive workshop focuses on confidence building excercises, improvisation and teamwork, and culminates in a devised showcase at the end of each term. Students will learn how to work effectively and confidently with their peers and gain confidence in themselves, their creativity and imagination, and in their overall communication skills, all of which will lay the foundation for the development of a well rounded actor.
Performance Workshop (PW)
Learn the craft of acting. Students who have completed at least one term in the Drama Workshop, or who have had previous drama experience can join the Performance Workshop, where specific performance skills such as voice, movement, characterisation, improvisation, ensemble and devising will be developed. Each term, a new performance skill will be introduced such as dance, singing, mime or puppertry, which will be demonstrated in an end of term showcase. This course is ideal for those students who are serious about acting and wish to begin developing solid skills.
The Young Performers Company (YPC)
Advanced students are invited to join the Young Performers Company, where they will work with a group of highly motivated young actors, preparing devised and classical/contemporary scripts for performanc, under the guidance of an experienced tutor/director. Students will also get a chance to explore complementary elements of theatre such as writing, directing and stage management. Each term culminates in a scripted performance. This course is suited to students who are experienced in drama and who wish to apply the skills they have developed through focused performance work. Entrance is by auditon only.*
PLEASE NOTE THIS COURSE IS ONLY AVAILABLE IN TEMPLE BAR, FOR 11-13 YEAR OLDS AND 14-15 YEAR OLDS.
