It is YOUR responsibility to ensure you have a valid passport and to ensure that the validity is sufficient
www.travel.state.gov/passport/index.html will provide all necessary information for US citizens
Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months after your return date so check with your own government's requirements in good time to be sure you comply with regulations.
Keep in mind that it can take several weeks for a passport application to be processed so give yourself plenty of time.
We suggest you make several photocopies of your passport. Leave one at home with someone in the case of an emergency and keep one securely with you at all times as you travel.
If you are a non-US or EU citizen, please make sure to check for any visa requirements that may apply to you.
Get your plane ticket for the correct date - you are responsible for doing this so check, check and double check you are doing this correctly. You may be required at immigration to provide proof of departure so you should buy a return air ticket or be able to provide proof of your flight arrangements for returning to the US after any travel following the programme.
Plan your medical needs - if you have a medical condition that requires medication ensure you have contacted your doctor and pharmacist to be sure you have sufficient medication and extra copies of prescriptions.
Insurance: you should ensure you have appropriate travel insurance before you travel that will cover any medical or travel problems
Related to this, please make sure to inform us of any medical issues you have before you come to ussuch as diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, visual or hearing problems, mental health issues, any physical disabilities etc.
We recommend that you obtain a valid international student identity card if you do not already have one so that you might be able to take advantage of any discounts on, for example, bus and rail travel while in Ireland or if you choose to travel after the programme.
