Stage Combat Actor Training

These classes provide an opportunity for everyone to learn stage combat, whether they attend acting school or not. There are classes and workshops that cater for all levels of skill. These are open to everyone - professional and amateur actors, theatre technicians, academics, and those who are simply interested.

The Stage Combat Workshop

This is the workshop to choose if you have taken an introductory course or have had some previous basic training. This 8 week course offers training in Weapons (Rapier & Dagger Fencing) and Unarmed Combat for Stage and Screen, with an emphasis on preparing students for the optional fight proficiency test. This is a performance based course with students applying action to text.

On successful completion of this course, you may opt to take the Irish Dramatic Combat Academy (IDCA) fight proficiency test. Successful students will be awarded with the IDCA Basic Actor Combatant Certificate.
